These are going to be at Derby Hall (either outside or in the bar), Broadgate (outside Londis) and Jubilee Campus (by the cash machine at the main entrance). Giving you little excuse. Tuesday 7:30 pm
Wednesday 8:00 pm
Thursday 7:30 pm
Friday 7:00 pm
Saturday Alternative tour 1:00 pm

And of course we’ll keep you informed about our events, which are bound to include gigs, clubnights, bar crawls, quizzes, cinema trips, our resurrected ’Quiet Night Out,’ an upcoming ’alternative tour’ of Nottingham and (possibly?) much much more. Worth joining for next week alone? Here’s our lineup for ALTERNATIVE FRESHER’S WEEK 2008!

If you’re left unimpressed by Nottingham’s battleship-sized cheese clubs and hunger for something a bit different, we’ve got a varied diet of gigs, club nights, and heavy socializing opportunities, lined up in our annual Alternative-Fresher’s week.
Monday- the High Society’s legendary indie quiz at the Horn in Hand- Where you get to meet fellow high soc kids and be challenged to our fiendish quiz in order to win some fantastic prizes.

Tuesday- Quiet Night Out- Music, films, games and cake at the Crocus Café.

Wednesday- Electric Banana! (this is a clubnight, as this is not obvious and this pair of unrelated words may not speak for itself)

Thursday- High soc bar crawl were we grace some of Nottingham’s finest purveyors of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and then we’ll end up at the excellent……RADAR, where there will be high soc djs.

Friday- High soc gig at the Hand and Heart Gallery. Lonely Ghosts with support from Wrist.

Saturday- Day, the alternative tour around Nottingham, shops, tea rooms and exhibitions.
Night- Gig, Islands at the Bodega and then if that wasn’t enough Stealth Vs Rescued.

Stay tuned for the poster, as well as details for our on-campus meetups. Meanwhile, feel free to peruse the forums as we bring everything BANG up-to-date! With all the love we can muster - see you soon.

Incoming: Papier Tigre, Tigers! Feb 1st

January 27th, 2008

Loads of thanks to everyone who came out drinking with us (it was hard work, we know)! It was great to see you all, we hope a good time was had. But now it’s time to knock that nonsense down the page a bit.

PAPIER TIGRE!

Papier Tigre are an excellent disjointed rock trio from Nantes.

Tigers! are a fourpiece from Leeds, and also probably the most exotic species of all. We’d tell you what to expect if we adequately knew ourselves.

And one more TBC!!! The suspense is killing us too! Although we do sort of know who it is… Details here as soon as we can.

If you like the sound of that, it would naturally be lovely to see you there. The Rose of England is just up the Mansfield Road from the Victoria Centre. Keep well until Friday!

Next Event: Mini Bar Crawl before the next Radar (24th Jan)

January 14th, 2008

Hello all, we’ve been slack we know but isn’t that customary for January, what with exams and deadlines. We’ve been through hell and back but we promise that we have plenty in store for you all. Firstly, there are rumours of a mini bar-crawl before we head off to Radar to see The Mourning After (we’ll let you know more very soon); a superb band composed of High Soc members; we can’t wait and a great chance to meet up with old faces or come along and meet some new faces! And then we bring you acts such as Papier Tigre and Vialka in February. Go and have a listen if you find yourself wondering what to do after your exams, except from getting slightly inebriated that is (evidence below).
