The Mic
The University of Nottingham’s music magazine, The Mic, adorns various stands around campus every month. Filled with news about various upcoming musical events, and reviews of the latest releases, it’s a great way to keep up with what is going on around Nottingham. Run by students of the university, it’s a real hands-on team effort, and perfect if you’re looking to get into a spot of music journalism. Given the lively music scene that we are blessed with here in Nottingham, there is never a shortage of live shows to analyse and scrutinise, and with that comes the occasional opportunity to see what the bands made of it themselves.
As of last year, the Mic is now an official society of the university- making it bigger and better than ever before. Last term it played host to it’s very own awards show, giving recognition to the bands, venues and record labels that the students had voted their favourites. If you feel like you have an opinion to express, or a service to offer- be it in the field of design, or simply ranting and raving about the last album you bought- get in touch with the Mic.
