The Art Organisation
21 Station Street, NG2 3AJ (see map)
Open Mon-Sat from 11am
A fine venue to be found on station street, this is the main rival Lee Rosy’s tea has for those with art/tea/music bent to their natures. However its a subtly different experience. Part of a not-for-profit organization, it supports “the concept of community and environmental issues”, and aims to bring art into the community, which means a constantly changing array of works that are almost always worth a look. Regular and various community events are held there and a childrens area means all are welcome. As a music venue it can be both large and intimate, and has played host to Gringo Records’ 10th anniversary celebrations in 2007, as well as a smattering of mantile events, and is now also new territory for Highsoc gigs this year, so it’s worth getting to know this venue well. Set in an old warehouse that once filled a vital gap between the railway and the canal, it is the ideal spot to fantasize and imagine the ghosts of the great steam age in full ebb and flow. Then again its also an ace place for a cup of the tea of your choice and a sit down.
