Resembling a school gymnasium in an unusually good state of repair, this building provides neat light and sound for larger acts - the likes of the Decembrists and Larrikin Love graced its stage last year, while Jack Penate and Kate Nash are among the notables coming up. Oh, speaking of the stage - it’s dead low. You’d barely notice it’s there. Considering that if you’re standing at the back you’re probably looking over the heads of 400 people, I mean. So when your favourite artist comes on, it’s worth being at the front.

One of the city’s larger venues for pop/rock music, it’s wider than Rescue Rooms and comparable to Rock City. Slight shame about the atmosphere-sucking school hall look, but it’s pretty professionally run, the sound’s good and the bar prices aren’t steep (although the general public hardly get regular SU prices). Not exactly the worst place to see an indie rock band play.
