Anarchy Records
One of the finest second-hand record shops we know anywhere, Anarchy is well worth the 10 minute trek up the Mansfield Road. It’s fairly unassuming looking but an absolute goldmine for music lovers: whether you’ve searched the globe for that hard-to-find techno 7″ or just fancy stocking up on some cheap CDs, Anarchy’s worth a look. A quick poke around the other day revealed the following gems on offer…
Franz Ferdinand- ST (CD) £3
Rough Trade Post-Punk Compilation (2xCD) £2.25
Archie Shepp- The Way Ahead (CD) £3
Explosions in the Sky- The Earth is Not a Cold, Dead Place (LP) £4
Leonard Cohen- I’m Your Man (LP) £2
Low- Things We Lost In The Fire (CD) £3
Love- Forever Changes (CD) £2.50
Trencher- When Dracula Thinks “Look At Me” (CD) £2
Blur- The Great Escape (CD) £2
Public Enemy- Night of the Living Bassheads (CD) £3
Such ridiculously cheap prices enable you to take risks on stuff you wouldn’t normally buy and so is a great way of broadening your musical horizons!
And so on. You get the idea! The couple who run it are knowledgable and extremely friendly. Get chatty to them and you may even get tip offs on when they get good stuff in.
