In the indoor market near my home town there is a shop called, quite brazenly, ‘Bongs R Us’. Ice Nine ups the subtlety factor and sells a lot more besides. The last time I was there they were playing Kings of Convenience, which pleased me greatly, and I bought some itty bitty elastic bands for my hair. This anecdote is indicative of a typical shopping experience at Ice Nine; you’re unlikely to spend a fortune here, but for some nice jewellery (a personalised necklace, perhaps?) to complement the blouse you just bought at Wild, or for a badge that says ‘I HATE YOUR BAND’ then set transporters to here. Essentially, Ice Nine is Glastonbury in shop form, selling incense, goth-ware, curious ornaments, patches, badges… and all this without the stench of distant and full toilets.
