What’s With The Funny Name?
Most historians accept that High Society is named after the song “(Come On, Join) The High Society” by These Animal Men from the album of the same name. The long dead proponents of the NME created New Wave of New Wave, These Animal Men still have some stuff online like this slightly obsessive fan site to this slightly obsessive fan’s site and this review of their seminal album from which we take our name by Drowned in Sound. Some people like to claim they invented Brit-pop but we don’t know about that.We think it sounds much more snappy and memorable than Indie Soc or something. A copy of this record is passed down from generation to generation of Committee members and generally changes hands at the revelry that is the Committee elections.Without much further ado, here is our anthem.
