Want A Gig From Us?
Let Us, Help You
The High Society is dedicated to promoting up and coming bands as well as providing for the indie needs of students from The University of Nottingham. If you are in a band, signed or unsigned and would like a place at one of our gigs it’s as easy as ABC. High Society has a large membership and without wanting to sound too much like marketing it’s a great showcase to spread the word about your music and play to a decent sized audience. We would also love to talk to labels or promotion companies about hosting their events.

Have a bit of a think about if High Society is right for you. Although we are strictly speaking the indie/alternative music society we have a pretty eclectic taste in music and are ready to consider most genres for a gig - from punk-funk to electronica, to hip-hop to space-jazz, to country to folk - but there are some which will really just not suit. So if you are a metal band (unless it is really weird metal) or play Oasis-lite pub rock its probably best not to send us your demo. It’s not that we hate your band, but we are pretty sure that it won’t appeal to our membership and that we can’t get enough people down when you play to cover costs.

Send us a link to your site or MySpace profile with a brief description to booking@highsoc.com. Please don’t send MP3 files to that address unless really neccesary. If you want instead to send in a CD mail a package to:
The High Society
c/o Students Union
University Park
Nottingham.
Don’t bother with anything more than the CD in a nice case and some contact details. We are almost totally immune to pages of glossy PR, so don’t waste that precious paper. We love trees, you see. Obviously, the channels of our own Myspace are always open.

Wait and we’ll get back to you, pretty quickly if we are on the ball. If we aren’t, please don’t pester us we do quite a lot of stuff including normal university work as well as all this stuff so we might not get right back and such things will only put our backs up. If we like you we can suggest some dates and start to talk about costs, venues and the logistical details. We will endevour to reply to most direct e-mails.
