An E-mail From Our Founder
Hey Pop Kids,
My name is Steve, and in 1996 I founded the High Society. As your website suggests, the name does indeed come from a These Animal Men album. The name was partly chosen due to my love of said band, but the full album title of (Come On Join) The High Society seemed to sum up my desires.
I started the society basically cos there was alternative to “Rock Soc” at that time, and in our first year I was delighted to get over 200 members. I was joined by some like minded souls, and our commitee was comprised of: -
Me (Pres)
Mischa (Social Secretary)
Helen (Vice president / president of vice)
Pete (Treasurer)
I can’t really claim we did all that much in our first year, just a few outing to night clubs, an organised gig or three and two splendid quizzes. I’m glad to see my original ethos is being carried on though!!
1996-7 was my final year at Notts, I’m now a 31 IT consultant in Cheshire. Remember, old punks don’t grow old, they just get jobs…
All the best for the society, glad to see it’s going soooo well.
Regards, Steve
